This whole travelling thing has definitely shown me a lot of things. Seeing new things, meeting ppl, exposed to different environment and stuffs are wat u get. One of the best is to make acquaintance with different ppl, for ppl like us, the main races we know are the Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians... But recently, i have the chance to meet ppl of a different race, from our everyday lives. And they are the Jews, they are the much read abt ppl in the bible, but i have nv made any acquaintance b4.
An opportunity came up for me to befriended ppl of the Jewish blood. And these nice ppl actually invited my fren and i to their Passover celebration.
* Time out - Passover is a memorial event of God delivering the Israelis from slavery in Egypt; Signs and wonders were performed in that time, by Moses, to the Pharaoh, in persuasion to release the Israelis. The last of the signs was the death of all first born in the land of Egypt, and God told his ppl to kill a lamb, and paint their doorposts with its blood. And the spirit of death will Passover the households with blood to other homes.*
To commemorate this release from slavery and the Passover of the spirit of death, the Jews have certain observance and practices that will last abt a week. Before the first day of Passover, all Jewish households have to get ride of all products made with yeast. So it means they will have to get rid of all their bread in the hse, unless its the unleavened bread.
On the first day of Passover, they will have a family dinner where a long table will be set for ALL family members to sit and dine together. Its something like the Chinese reunion dinner, its very elaborated & definitely a WOW factor for me when i stepped into their dinning area.
They also have a booklet, a guide on how the Passover is to be carried out. The nice ppl gave me one to bring back for memorial, and like a curious kitten, i took it and was quite fascinated by it. Everything in it, the instructions were precise and specific. The Jews are definitely detailed ppl, with much self discipline.
I dun think i be going into the details of the dinner, but i can tell u that the whole dinner, in its fast forward pace took 4 hrs to complete. It was a 3 course dinner; 1st course was mainly the fish dish, there was the fish cooked in 2 different ways. 2nd course was the meat dish, which were the chicken & ox tongue thingy. 3rd and last course was the dessert, which had lotsa of cakes & cookies, ice cream and pudding. Other than these dishes, there were the tapas and mini diff salads... and of cos not forgetting all the wine...
Believe me, it was a jaw dropping view… we were definitely stunned!
